The gearbox
The gearbox is the second stage within the transmission system, after the clutch. This is found fitted to the rear end of the engine with the clutch in between the two.
When the gear ratio changes between the crankshaft and vehicle wheels the gearbox then provides the torque which is needed to move the vehicle under a variety of road conditions.
